Diabetes ACT provides many diabetes education and health promotion services to the community, including the following.
Support Groups
Canberra Type 2 Diabetes Support Group
Meets monthly at Grant Cameron Community Centre, Holder.
New members are always welcome.

Regular Education Groups
Learning together as a group is an excellent way to improve your health and management of diabetes. Consider joining us for one of our FREE groups at Diabetes ACT in Holder.
Please phone the Diabetes Education office on 6287 8730 to book, as numbers are limited (usually a maximum of four people per group).
Newly Diagnosed, Questions and Answers on Diabetes NEW GROUP FOR 2010
An opportunity to get to know our staff, increase your knowledge, identify your feelings and have your questions about diabetes answered. Followed by blood glucose monitoring workshop.

Workshop on Blood Glucose Monitoring NEW GROUP FOR 2010
Help with monitoring and understanding blood glucose levels. What is the National Diabetes Support Scheme? What is HbA1c? We will demonstrate a blood glucose meter and of course you are welcome to bring your own in if you have one. Runs straight after the Newly Diagnosed group.

Foot Education in Diabetes
Looking after your feet is an important part of diabetes management. A Diabetes Educator will step you through the regular checks you can perform on your feet.

Nutrition Groups
Are you newly diagnosed with diabetes? Do you need help getting back on track with your diet? A dietitian will explain a healthy and tasty approach to eating for people with diabetes.

GI Nutrition Group - 28 January, 25 February, 25 March, 22 April, 27 May, 24 June
"Spot the carb" Carbohydrate Counting Group NOW OFFERING BASIC AND ADVANCED GROUPS
This group is specially designed for people who are struggling with their carbohydrate intake and need assistance to manage their diet and/or insulin.

Workplace and Community Programs
Diabetes ACT offers seminars for workplaces and community groups to promote healthy lifestyle changes and diabetes awareness.
Programs are tailored to the needs of individual organisations and can cover a variety of topics including:
- Understanding and awareness of diabetes and pre-diabetes
- Diabetes facts and figures
- Reducing the risk of diabetes complications
- Healthy lifestyle choices
- ... and many more!
