Preventing Diabetes
Diabetes is the world’s fastest growing chronic disease.
An estimated 275 Australians adults are diagnosed with diabetes everyday.
Approximately 85-90% of all cases of diabetes are type 2 diabetes. Type 2 diabetes may be prevented or delayed through lifestyle changes.
Interested in reducing your risk of developing type 2 diabetes? Here’s where you should start:
- Get moving – participate in at least 30 minutes of physical activity every day
- Eat well – Enjoy a wide variety of nutritious foods (see our Healthy Eating information )
- Maintain a healthy weight
- Don’t smoke
- Limit alcohol intake
