Planning Meeting at DACT

  • Meeting on Fri, 21 Jan 2011 @ 2.30pm – 3.30pm
  • Diabetes ACT, Weston
  • About an hour in length – to talk about what "you" (participants) would like to see happening in DIG for 2011
  • Those who cannot attend the meeting are welcome to post their thoughts via an online survey below

Meeting Dates at Hellenic Club for 2011 - Last Tuesday of each month except December & January

Tuesday 22nd February 2011: Information on DAFNE ( Dose Adjustment for Normal Eating) a self management program for adults with T1D.

Tuesday 29th March 2011: Allan Bolton Type 1 Diabetes Exercise Specialist B.H.M.S. (Hons) MAAESS AEP SP (aka 'Coach'), has had Type 1 Diabetes (T1D) for over 30 years. Allan who has successfully combined the science and art of exercising with T1D will be presenting and available for questions.

Tuesday 31st May 2011: ACT Health following DIG February meeting followed by Speaker Dr Stan Doumani  ACTDGPs GP Advisor to speak on Immunology and Diabetes.

Tuesday 28th June 2011: Continuous Glucose Monitoring System (CGMS) Workshop and Hypoglycaemia

Tuesday 26th July 2011: “The Traffic Light Guide to Food: Carbohydrate Counter” Are you new to carb counting or wish to brush up your skills: A workshop will be conducted by Mari Eronen, Accredited Practising Dietitian who has Type 1 diabetes.

Tuesday 30th August 2011: Rebecca Taylor, Postdoctoral Fellow. Centre for Health Stewardship.College of Medicine Biology and Environment, The Australian National University (ANU), will be joining us to talk about clinicians and clients working together to promote the self-management of chronic health conditions. 

Tuesday 27th September 2011: Taoist Tai Chi Society of Australia will conduct a demonstration followed by a presentation.

Tuesday 25th October 2011: Speaker Louise Roantree and Specialist Physiotherapist represented Australia in Dragon Boat Paddling World Championships in the USA this year will share her exciting experiences combined with living with T1D and Coeliac Disease.

Tuesday 29th November 2011: Xmas break-up at Hellenic Club:
