Diabetes ACT 2013 Cinderella Gala Ball

Incorporating the Cinderella story into its Gala Ball led to a fairytale result for Diabetes ACT.

The Cinderella experience started with the Phoenix Players performing on the stairs of the Hellenic Club as guests arrived.

Guests were then greeted by Cinderella and the ugly stepsisters as they entered a magical ballroom where guests dined on a sumptuous feast.

The theme continued throughtout the evening with entertainment by Mr Paul Martell and Ms Jane Scali and ending with local Canberra Band Funky Fedoras.

Mark Riley, Channel Seven Chief Political Correspondent was the evening's master of ceremonies, assisting speakers including Elizabeth Lee, Member for Fraser.

Miss Natalia Michail, Diabetes ACT Youth Ambassador, delivered a very moving speech about living with Type 1 diabetes, followed closely by Nikoletta Nikias, Sarah Martin and Irene Mihailakis who gave a beautiful rendition of " A Mothers Anthem" which brought the guests to tears.

Of course, the night was only successful because of our amazing sponsors, guests and volunteers who gave up their time to assist with the cause. The Fundraising Comittee and Board of Directors worked tirelessly to build awareness and encouraged people to attend and make a difference.
